Hi, I’m Ryder! I’m a senior at UChicago studying mathematics and physics. Broadly, I’m interested in condensed matter theory dealing with topological phases of matter, particularly their underlying mathematical formalism. I’ve worked closely with QCAs, operator algebras, and group cohomology. Currently, I’m working on a project dealing with symmetry fractionalization for crystalline symmetries in an operator algebraic framework at UMD.
In addition to research, I have extensive experience in STEM outreach. Being from a low-income/first-gen background, I’m especially interested in opportunities that connect underrepresented youth with high-quality STEM experiences and I love mentoring/teaching.
In my normal life, I play the guitar, paint, and do a lot of biking when I get the chance.
